The new Sport Traveller has landed

When time becomes a territory to be conquered, there are those who mark it...
...and those who advance through it.

Dawn breaks over a silent runway. The asphalt harbours the memories of the night. All is stillness yet, already, something is beginning to stir... Soon, engines will roar into life, a plane will take off, and an invisible border will be crossed. At moments such as these, time ceases to be an abstraction. It becomes a tool; a necessity; a starting line. The Sport Traveller was designed for active lifestyles. A timepiece conceived for those who live fast, travel far and cross time zones without ever losing their bearings.

A watch inspired by travel

Traveller is an apt name. It evokes mobility, precision, a capacity to be here and elsewhere in the same heartbeat. Already part of the history of the Manufacture in the form of the LF 230.02 movement with natural escapement, the concept has returned in a new technical interpretation. This second generation exhibits a sportier spirit with a Swiss lever escapement, yet preserves the essence of the Traveller – a dual time zone function that can be adjusted in a single action. On the left side of the case middle, two push-buttons offer release from the shackles of time. At 10 o'clock, each press advances the hour hand by one jump. A press at 8 o’clock reverses it by one hour. The local time can be changed instantly, without stopping the watch or interrupting the rhythm – just like moving from one country to another between two stopovers.

A dial that resembles a navigation map

The anthracite dial with opaline finish plays with the effects of nuance and depth. Its graphic elements, central cross, minute track, small second markers and logo are applied in powder grey transfers for clear, controlled readability. Beneath the hands, the words “Sport Traveller” appear in a tone-on-tone font, discreet and almost confidential. Two embossed apertures add structure to the surface. At 9 o'clock sits the home time – the anchor point and reference. At 3 o'clock, a semi-instantaneous date designed to accompany the passing of days as the wearer crosses invisible lines on a map. At 6 o'clock, the finely snailed small seconds hand adds a mechanical, regular and hypnotic cadence.

The famous Assegai-shaped hands and teardrop indexes are crafted from white gold and coated with light green Super-LumiNova®, ensuring perfect readability day and night, whether in the harsh light of a paddock or the hushed silence of a night flight.

Movement architecture

At the heart of the Sport Traveller beats a brand new Manufacture calibre, the LF275.01 automatic, offering over 72 hours of power reserve. Like the entire Sport collection, its bridges are decorated with a horizontal satin finish combined with a ruthenium treatment. A highly technical and contemporary aesthetic that prioritises mechanical legibility, efficiency and endurance.

This calibre features a Swiss lever escapement and an off-centred micro-rotor self-winding system. To optimise its resistance to shocks and vibrations, it is equipped with a unidirectional ball bearing. Like a balance wheel, the micro-rotor incorporates an oscillating weight in 950 platinum, positioned between the main plate and the rotor bridge to ensure optimal stability and maximum winding efficiency.

The micro-rotor bridge is decorated entirely by hand. Its angles are softened then refined with gentian wood and diamantine, while the surface is mirror polished. The movement also features several interior angles, multiple zinc-polished surfaces and a succession of satin-brushed and circular-grained finishes, all handcrafted in LAURENT FERRIER workshops.

A case designed for action

The Sport Traveller features a lightweight and durable 42-mm grade 5 titanium Sport case, with water resistance tested to a depth of 100 metres. Its exterior architecture is reminiscent of bodywork shaped by speed, where taut lines and rounded volumes reside in perfect complementarity. The bold, sculpted tonneau case middle is topped with a bezel with softened contours, an evolution of the Square case, which balances the potency of its forms.

To underscore its character and accentuate the aerodynamic feel, each surface features a distinct finish. Circular satin-brushing on the bezel, mirror polishing on the sides and vertical satin-brushing on the case middle create an interplay of materials that showcases the lines of the piece.

To complete the ensemble, an integrated metal bracelet, also made from grade 5 titanium, extends the case middle, echoing the vertical satin-brushed finish punctuated by polished sides. With their sloping, polished flanks, the centre links accentuate this surface treatment and reinforce the mechanical dimension of the piece.

The brand's iconic crown, recognisable by its spherical shape, is screwed down and perfectly integrated into the case middle. Its generous dimensions ensure a natural and precise grip, providing the initial momentum for the automatic movement. The piece is topped by a domed sapphire crystal, giving it a distinctive and instantly noticeable curve.

Following on from the Grand Sport Tourbillon and the Sport Auto, this new model enriches the brand's Sport line and joins the collection on a permanent basis. The Sport Traveller is not just a tool, it's a state of mind. A watch for those who refuse to choose between leaving and staying.
